Description
Summary:An essential matter of "adult education system" concept and its structure have been analyzed in papers of Ukrainian and foreign scientists. The prerequisites for demand of this educational sector in Ukraine have been substantiated. The general construct of the adult education system which contains three subsystems recognized by UNESCO (formal, non-formal and informal) has been described. At the same time, the author emphasizes that this format of system presentation is quite simplified, as it does not reveal the diversity of content, real areas of adult education and its structural and logical connections that perform unifying function, provide sustainability and development. There is a point of view that the structure of the adult education system should illustrate approaches, principles, objectives, tasks and content of adult education; features of interaction of educational process participants; mechanisms of management and sources of funding in adult education. A retrospective review of the adult education system in Ukraine is presented and the current stage of its development is described, which specifies some components that have recently become essentially important due to social, scientific, technical, economic and other factors (professional development, in-company professional training, training of the unemployed, adult education centers, education of the elderly).
