Effect of N-methyl-D-aspartate on glyceride lipase activity and mRNA expression in porcine adipose tissue

Description
Summary:Sixteen female pigs (Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire) with about 60 kg were group-fed (eight pigs per group) the basal diets supplemented with 0 (control), 100 mg·kg-1 N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMA) to evaluate the efficacy of NMA on adipose tissue glyceride lipase acitivity and mRNA expression. Compared with the control, the results showed that 100 mg·kg-1 NMA could improve the swine glyceride lipase activity and mRNA expression obviously after 15 days, which were increaseed by 30.44% (P<0.05) and 13.70% (P<0.05), respectively, but did not have significant effects after 7 days. The results indicated NMA could affect the fat metabolism by manipulation of glyceride lipase acitivity and mRNA expression.
