description Background: Bromhidrosis is a medical condition characterised by an unpleasant body odour caused by bacterial decomposition of sweat. This condition can negatively impact personal and professional interactions, especially in face-to-face settings, such as counselling. Therefore, self-awareness and management of bromhidrosis are essential for maintaining professionalism. Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between bromhidrosis and self-awareness among future counsellors in Indonesia, particularly in relation to professional competence development practices. Methodology: A survey research design was employed in the study, utilising quantitative approaches. Out of the total population of 400 students enrolled in the Guidance and Counselling programme, 252 participants were selected for the study. Data were obtained through a validated questionnaire, and descriptive statistics were computed to describe the levels of bromhidrosis and self-awareness. To assess the relationship between the variables, the Pearson correlation test was utilised in conjunction with instrument testing to address issues of validity and reliability. Results: The results indicated that 78.1% of the respondents had mild bromhidrosis, while 21.9% had moderate. There was a significantly strong negative correlation between self-awareness and the level of bromhidrosis intensity (r = -0.634, p < 0.001), indicating that stronger self-awareness leads to better self-management of the condition. Original Contribution: This research contributes to mediation education by linking both physical and psychological dimensions. Its significance lies in stressing the importance of combining self-regulation and professional skills so as to advance counsellors' education in Indonesia. Conclusion: Self-awareness is important in controlling bromhidrosis among potential counsellors, as well as in achieving the competence necessary to function professionally. Key Recommendation: There is a need to include self-reflection exercises and health care management education in the counsellor education programme to prepare the future practitioners for the expected roles holistically.
