Description
Summary:The study ascertained extension professionals learning capabilities in using social media platform for service delivery in southeast, Nigeria. The population for the study comprised one hundred and twenty-seven extension professionals (academic staff of the Department of Agricultural Extension and extension agents). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression and percentages, while others were presented using chart. Results show that 100% of the academic staff had learnt that social media platforms facilitate virtual training sessions. The majority (94.9%) of the extension agents learnt that social media platforms enhance mentorship between extension professionals. Most (58.6%) of the academic staff had high learning capability in using social media platforms for extension service delivery. The predictor variable sex had a significant (t= -2.812; p=0.006) negative influence on the learning capabilities of extension agents. It is therefore paramount that extension professionals at all levels should be equipped by the government and donor agencies with digital tools and basic infrastructural facilities that will aid them to make effective use of social media platforms for improved extension service delivery and all-round agricultural development.
