Description
Summary:The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of H. pylori infection among HIV positive patients in Iran. We also evaluated the type of anti bodies and its titer among H. pylori infected cases.A group of 114 AIDS positives and as many healthy people underwent examination for anti-helicobacter pillory antibodies, the number of CD4-positive lymphocytes as well as other blood-related parameters. IgG antibody was positive in 57.02% of HIV positive patients which revealed a statistically significant difference (p<0.001) when compared with 28.95% of such patients in control group.  Titer of IgA antibody had a converse relation between these two groups; the titer was positive in 2.64% of HIV positive patients compared to 31.57% patients of HIV negative cases which obtained a significant difference statistically (p<0.001).       Our study showed no significant differences in the prevalence of H. pylori infection between HIV positive and negative patients. However, we showed that the pattern of serum level of anti H. pylori anti bodies is strange among HIV positive population.
