description Projects and programs of international cooperation are diverse and cover multiple fields of action. The international development cooperation (IDC) is a tool to which is given lots of attention since it pretends to include, in equal proportion, donors and recipients of international aid. However, the evaluation of these projects has long been discussed and there is still no consensus on the “good practices” to adopt. This is an issue for the evaluation and execution of development projects. This study fits in the actual IDC panorama where this difficulty remains, even 60 years after the beginning of its history. As Edgar Morin said in 1995: « La connaissance est une navigation dans un océan d’incertitudes à travers des archipels de certitudes »”. This paper focuses on the principle of reciprocity, based on six inter-connected elements of reciprocity that are considered as fundamental for cooperation to work for all actors involved. The six elements are communication, trust, fairness, we-identity, reputation and enforcement. Through a bibliometric analysis of published productions on this specific topic, I will demonstrate that there is a gap in the literature when using those principles for IDC analysis. Meta-analysis variables are used to this end, such as co-authorship, geographic distribution of authors' institutions of affiliation or citations.
