Description
Summary:Abstract The paper is a review of the efficiency of Acid modified bio-adsorbent in the treatment of wastewater. Bio-adsorbents are the adsorbents prepared from natural materials such as biomass and microbial substances, lately gaining increasing interest in their environmentally friendly and economically attractive potential in contaminant removal from wastewater. However, different modifications can enhance the efficiencies of bio-adsorbents, and acid modification is among the most commonly applied. The modification increases several surfaces and adsorptive capacities for particular pollutants by introducing new functional groups and changing the surface characteristics of bio-adsorbents. Therefore, with a better understanding of the complexities of acid modification of bio-adsorbents, optimum performance will be achieved and sustainable solutions developed for future remediation processes. The current study intends to explore, through mechanism studies, the effects of acid modification on bio-adsorbents to provide excellent information for further research and application in environmental remediation practices.
