description This article studies the transfer of power in Omani history, on one hand in the system of the imamate and on the other hand in the system of the sultan monarchy from the perspectives of political thought and application.First, the article reviews the cultural and geographical characteristics of Oman that influenced the formation of the state, but also the reciprocal influence between the imamate and monarchical systems. The article then offers a horizontal reading of Omani states since before Islam, focusing on the crisis phases of governmental transition. Finally, the analysis ends with the modern state of Oman in the early 1970s and the transition process from the rule that was developed theoretically and legally until the fundamental law published in 1996, and the other legislation. The article concludes with a summary of orderly government transitions, the future outlook for the theory and application of the transition system, and what needs to be reviewed in the future to improve the integrity and results of this system. This point of view is developed with reference to the recent modifications to the statute of the State of January 11, 2021, the latest legislative version of the transitional regime of government.
