Description
Summary:This paper aimed to understand how homosexual couples build their careers, individually and jointly, and how trajectories are negotiated considering existing possibilities. Qualitative research was carried out with six homosexual couples of various ages, professional backgrounds, and relationship stages. The data collection had two moments: individual interviews and a joint interview. Analysis of the reports was based on content analysis. The results indicated that the construction of the collective project clearly shows the metamorphosis of the individual projects and career redirections with greater alternation in the valuation of the individual trajectories. This allows the exploration of nuances and turning points of the trajectories of dual career couples. While on the one hand there is greater freedom for negotiations regarding careers, on the other hand, in the field of possibilities for each trajectory, a space of dilemmas and conflicts emerges, in the way these couples experience roles and status in a society based on heteronormativity.
