description Climate change and climate variability cause changes in the hydrological cycle, increase in the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, and lead to rises in sea levels and droughts which trigger migration and conflict in vulnerable regions. This article aims to reveal that the changing climate is a threat multiplier for food, agriculture and water security and is a factor that can initiate armed conflicts and migration. While in the past migration events mostly occurred due to instability, civil wars and disasters, the negative consequences of global warming have recently been added to these reasons. The worst scenarios developed for climate change and its effects showed that the total destruction will be greater in underdeveloped countries/regions that are vulnerable to drought. This study focuses on climatic conditions in socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. Climate stress, which is widespread across the Middle East, and the drought between 2006 and 2010, interrupted agriculture and husbandry, and became one of the causes of internal conflicts and protests. In this study, examples from Syria and some other Middle Eastern countries, which came to the fore with the civil war and refugee flow, are discussed. In addition, the changes and movements of the rural population of Siverek and Diyarbakır in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, depending on the drought at the local scale, are examined in a wide framework based on statistical data.
