EFFECT OF THE PLANTING DATE ON QANTITIVE AND QUALITATIVE YIELD OF TWO CUCUMBER HYBRIDS (Cucmis sativus L.) GROWN IN UNHEATED PLASTIC HOUSE

A field experiment was conducted in a plastic house of Horticulture and landscape design department / Agricultural College / Tikrit University during the season 2012 to study the effect of three planting dates (10/1 , 28/1 and 15/2) and two hybrids of cucumber (Summit and Maxeem) by using Split plot...

description A field experiment was conducted in a plastic house of Horticulture and landscape design department / Agricultural College / Tikrit University during the season 2012 to study the effect of three planting dates (10/1 , 28/1 and 15/2) and two hybrids of cucumber (Summit and Maxeem) by using Split plot system. The treatments were distributed according to Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D.) with three replications. The results showed that the planting date had no effect in all the studied characters. The Maxeem hybrid showed significant superiority in the fruit length and fruit numbers it gave higher rate reached 16.2718cm and 6.4720gm successively while Summit had significant increasing in fruit diameter , fruit weight. The interaction treatment between the third date and Maxeem hybrid showed significant increment in fruit length whereas the second date of Summit hybrid increased significant in fruit diameter character. The fruit weight character increased significant for the interaction treatment between the third date and Summit hybrid it gave higher rate reached 90.626 gm.
