Advances in interventional mechanical thrombus extraction in lower extremity deep vein thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) refers to the abnormal clotting of blood within deep veins, predominantly in the lower extremities. Its formation is primarily attributed to three key factors: venous stasis, a hypercoagulable state, and endothelial injury. Common risk factors include prolonged immobilizat...

description Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) refers to the abnormal clotting of blood within deep veins, predominantly in the lower extremities. Its formation is primarily attributed to three key factors: venous stasis, a hypercoagulable state, and endothelial injury. Common risk factors include prolonged immobilization, post-surgical recovery, malignant tumor, pregnancy, hereditary thrombophilia and certain medications. The most significant complication of DVT is pulmonary embolism (PE), while chronic complications such as post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) can also occur. In high-risk patients, thrombolytic therapy or inferior vena cava filters may be used to prevent PE. Advances in medical technology have led to the widespread use of percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy (PMT) devices, which provide a minimally invasive and effective method for removing venous thrombi. This article reviews recent developments in the clinical application of deep vein mechanical thrombus removal technologies, with a focus on the principles, therapeutic benefits, and clinical outcomes of various devices.
