description Introduction – the aim of the researchThe aim of the article is an ethical analysis relating to Art. 7 of the Probation Officer's Code of Ethics, i.e. to the good of the ward, aiming at indicating the directives of conduct in relation to this good, using WD Ross' concept of the prima facie obligation. This issue has an axiological dimension, but also a practical one. The task of the analysis is to formulate practical directives of conduct in relation to the well-being of the supervised in the work of a family probation officer. The field of consideration has been limited to the circle of family probation officers.Materials and methods (methodology)The foreground in this work are philosophical methods, that is ethical analysis, the logical-linguistic method, and especially the method known as meaning understanding. The method of document analysis and, to the extent necessary, standard methods of legal sciences, i.e. the dogmatic and legal method, were also used. The normative bases of professional ethics of probation officers were analyzed, especially the Code of Ethics of Probation Officers. Results, conclusions, implicationsThe article supplements the research literature on the detailed issues of curator ethics, as studies discussing and developing the presented issues are useful. The formulated directives of conduct towards the ward's good, as well as the directives for eliminating duty conflicts (arising from the implementation of conduct directives towards the ward's good) have a scientific dimension (they have not been developed so far) and can be helpful for the work (reflective) of court guardians‘A word of encouragement to read’This is a work touching on an important (scientifically and practically) problem that has not yet been developed, containing justified directives of conduct in relation to the well-being of the supervised (the ward) – the key value of the work of probation officers.
