description Tea catechins, have received considerable attention in recent years due to their numerous potentially beneficial medicinal properties. A common discussed mechanism of their biological and pharmacological effects is the antioxidative activities of tea catechins. In this paper, we evaluated the scavenging effects of four catechins both on superoxide anions(O2-)and hydroxyl free radical(·OH). In addition their synergic effects, structure—activity relationship, as well as stoichiometric factors and rate constants for the reactions of O2- and ·OH with EGCG were discussed.
