Description
Summary:The right to access environmental information is a cornerstone of the democratic model. It enhances the performance of public action by promoting states' commitment to the principles of environmental governance. This right aims to encourage public participation in environmental decision-making. Aware of the importance of this right, the Moroccan legislator has endowed it with numerous guarantees, foremost among which is the constitutional guarantee. However, these guarantees lose their significance if they do not conform to relevant international standards regarding the right to access environmental information. This leads to the necessity of analyzing the Moroccan legal arsenal governing the implementation of this right, to determine the extent to which the Moroccan legislator has succeeded in ensuring an adequate exercise of the right to access environmental information, while reconciling the guarantees and restrictions provided for its exercise.
