Description
Summary:Yellow fever (YF) is an obligate, transmissible, feral herd infectious disease characterized by multiple organ dysfunction and high mortality rates. The intensification of international relations and tourist flows, including those to the YF endemic areas in recent years has substantially increased the value of vaccination against this infection in patients on immunosuppressive therapy for immunological disorders, including rheumatic diseases (RDs). In this connection, the recently published guidelines by the experts of the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology on the efficiency and safety of immunization against YL in patients with chronic immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (including RDs) are of great interest. The main provisions of these guidelines are presented in this paper.
