Description
Summary:Based on a study carried out in southwest LOBI villages, this article analyses Catholic Church and governments parts in schooling processes, from the early missionary and colonial actions to the nationalization of catholic schools by the independent State in 1969, and the present difficult retrocession. The LOBI society case, compared to DAGARA one, reveals the historic interactions between populations on the one hand and state and Catholic Church actors on the other, in processes of institutionalization and diversification of the education sector.
