description Luġāt-ı Türkiyye, a dictionary written by Hacı Abdullah Safi from Kirkuk at the end of the 19th century in Kirkuk, has an extensive and rich lexicon. The dictionary contains around four thousand words compiled from Old Anatolian Turkish, Ottoman Turkish and Chagatai Turkish, as well as Turkish and Iraqi Turkmen dialects. The book translated from the Arabic alphabet to the Latin alphabet by Dr. Önder Saatçi and Necat Kevseroğlu was published in 2024. There are some misreadings and evaluations in this publication, which also includes a facsimile of the work. In this article, first the dictionary is introduced, the introduction section, which has a unique language, is quoted, then the sources of the dictionary are identified, and the author's views on the meaning and the origin of the names Turk and Turkman are presented. In the main part of the article, the inaccuracies and deficiencies identified in the book are discussed under seven headings. First, the words that were identified to be misread, their correct forms and sources are shown. Then, a list of Turkish words that were included in the dictionary but not given in tabular form was made. Following this, examples are provided to highlight the synonyms that the dictionary author only gives without defining the headwords. In addition, some of the other words in the definitions given in relation to the headwords are listed in a table, and in the last sections, errors caused by the author and publishers in the publication of the work are stated.
