Description
Summary:This paper aims to analyse freedom of thought from atheist and theist perspectives. In this context, the hypothesis of the study is as follows; Human being is free to express and spread their opinions due to their creations. We firstly examined the myth of Prometheus stealing fire from the god Zeus, and  the story of the  first woman, Pandora, in ancient Greek religion  in order to test our hypothesis in this study. Secondly, we examined the issue of the creation of Adam described in the Qur’an and the Torah. Thirdly, we discussed the will of the human being in the light of the relevant verses. Afterwards, we discussed the movements shaping human being such as naturalism, materialism, socialism, capitalism, historizm and biologism. Finally, we discussed several examples on freedom of thought experienced by librarians. This study has demonstrated that freedom of thought arises from the creation of human being, and human being must save themselves from the natural, economic, historical and biological conditions in order to maintain their free thoughts.
