Summary:The article defines the historical and pedagogical, epistemological and didactic, value-semantic, functional-labor and system-activity foundations of a comparative analysis. The theoretical analysis of comparative analysis is carried out in two planes - the receipt, refinement, formation, systematization, transformation, application, updating of didactic and scientific-pedagogical knowledge. The possibilities of comparative analysis are revealed through reined deinitions, models for implementing the ideas of comparative analysis, the functions of comparative analysis, the principles of improving the quality of using comparative analysis in the system of continuing education, the trends in the use of comparative analysis in the scientiic and pedagogical activity of teachers and scientiic and pedagogical workers, pedagogical conditions for increasing popularity and the effectiveness of using comparative analysis in the work of educators continuous education.
