Description
Summary:As an emerging metropolis, Jakarta participates to global dynamics such as urban transition and internationalization. The Indonesian economic success takes place in Jakarta, one of the ten largest cities in the world. However, persistent poverty and growing inequality reveal the limits of development. This paper presents the results of my fieldwork in Jakarta in several neighborhoods considered as "poor". The aim is to highlight the terms and the socio-spatial consequences of the poverty treatment by the stakeholder. The challenge here is to question the use of the concept of poverty and its implications in the production and the restructuration of social relations of domination in the city. Finally, in a methodological approach, the article focuses on the relevance of the intersectional approach to identify the modes of action of poverty reduction programs and the forms of co-construction of dominations.
