Description
Summary:SDS-PAGE and IEF analysis of water-soluble proteins were conducted on seeds of 4 typical Momordica charantia L varieties at different developmental stages, and the results indicated that the seeds contained abundant water-soluble proteins, the molecular weights of which were ranging between 14.4 and 116kD, among them, the 27.6, 47.4 and 43.4 kD proteins were present in relatively high content, and the molecular weights of three other proteins were roughly 30 kD. There existed some difference in the expression patterns of the small molecular weight proteins among different varieties. At least 4 alkaline proteins were common in all varieties tested, although they differed in amount and pattern of accumulation among different varieties.
