| Summary: | This paper is a prospective review with the actual methods of mechanical weed control in sugar beet, from the simple ones to the most sophisticated, using sensors or robots, due to the large amount of pesticides used for a clean field. Weed control strategies are made strictly chemical with spraying herbicides mixes all over the field at several timings in the early growth stage, putting the crops under stress. The number of weed resistant species is increasing and more sustainable methods need to be used in weed control, also for ecological crops. Integrated weed management includes mechanical and chemical applications, that is why precision agriculture including camera recognizing cultivation row, hydraulic steering or autonomous robotic tehnlologies are used often and could be a strong alternative for the actual herbicide control of the weeds. |
