description Created in France in 1966, the Brevet d’études professionnelles (BEP) was promoted for a long time by the ministère de l’Éducation nationale, which wanted to make it the reference diploma for the access for the jobs of qualified workers. After the creation of the baccalauréat professionnel in 1985, the BEP became the main diploma of the professional way. Since the end of 1990s however, several reforms took place in this way of training and new political orientations were born. They gradually disqualified the BEP before ending in the abolition of its formation, prelude possible for its total disappearance. After the decline and the relaunching of another diploma close to the BEP, the Certificat d’aptitude professionnelle (CAP), this decision invites to question the educational policy led in the professional way since 30 years.
