description The 1908 general election was the first experience of this kind for the ottoman population, the first test for the credibility of fine promises made by the Young Turks and the first test for the “national” party. The results of these two rounds election are very far from reflecting the public opinion: bargain between the national parties and the Young Turks to gain their support against another national party, game of the Young Turks who, as a rule, support the locally weakest against his contenders, various election fixing. Each party nevertheless in his national historiography, presents itself as a victim while forgetting its own fixing. Using the public records and government archives makes it possible to go deeper in the subject.
