description This article reviews picture books published by Delpire from 1955 to 1969, focusing in particular on their illustrations. The first books, On vous l'a dit and Crocodile Tears, were original creations, though it was not until foreign books were purchased that the idea of the "Dix sur Dix" collection was born. These works share a high artistic quality, even if they are not uniform in terms of format, themes, artists or nationalities. The collection includes Swiss picture books by Hans Fischer and Reiner Zimnik, as well as French works, mainly by artistic directors in the Delpire agency, and the famous Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, which became the last publication in "Dix sur Dix.” Next, two collections were created with more consistent designs: Actibom, which featured large-format books whose illustrations could be removed and colored in by children, and Multibom, which produced picture books that could be cut up and reassembled, transforming them into playful objects.
