Description
Summary:Effects of Aspergillus f lavus on seed germination traits, germination percentage, seed germination rate and abnormality during short storage periods, of Mountain rye )Secale montanum( were evaluated. Seeds of Mountain rye contaminated with 106/ ml spore suspension of this Aspergillus flavus. The control and contaminated seeds were maintained at 65, 75 and 86% relative humidity, and the storage temperatures of 15, 25 and 35˚C. Related traits were measured at the end of storage period. Spore populations under each condition was determined. Seed germination percentages and rates of contaminated seeds decreased compared to the control seeds. The most abnormality was observed with contaminated seeds in 35˚C after one week. The least spore population was related to seeds stored under 65% relative humidity equivalent to 13% at 15anddeg;C. Significant differences were found for germination percentage between treated and control seeds.
