Summary:This article is an exposition of oral history in the reconstruction of the role of the small-town impresario at the beginning of the twentieth century. Oral history emerges as a recourse of historic research in Mexico and the author describes several of the few existing experiences in the use of oral sources in the study of the Mexican impresario. The author comments on the methodology involved in the study of the impresario and discusses aspects of its epistemologic focus. The article concludes with several suggestions regarding the interpretation and elaboration of the oral document.
