description Based on the analysis of the servo control system of 08-32 tamping device, we took the proportional valve of 08-32tamping device as research object, which controled the lifting movement displacement of tamping device. Aiming at the characteristicsof great inertia, non-linear and time changeable in the control of tamping device lifting movement, a fuzzy self-adaptive PID controlmethod was proposed with adopting fuzzy control theory, and a fuzzy PID controller was designed to compare with the conventional PIDcontroller. By simulation comparison, it proves that the tamping device with fuzzy self-adaptive PID controller has the advantages on realtime,fast response, small overshoot, usability and veracity.
