description Abdominal aortic aneurysms are pathological dilatations of the abdominal aorta that occur because of unknown causes and are associated with cardiovascular risk factors excluding diabetes. Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms are catastrophic events with high mortality and morbidity.
