| Summary: | This study proposes analysis of environmental services production of a French department, “Puy de Dôme” (7970 km ²) during year 2002. Because of few number of statistical data on environmental services, we had managed an exhaustive perusal of a French regional daily paper (La Montagne). We found 151 environmental services during year 2002. Numerous environmental services concern rivers. Our study highlights important role, at the local level, played by associations, volunteers and local publics actors in the supply of environmental services, which seems besides connected with the nearness of an urban pole. Urban nearness favors production of environmental services because associations and volunteers able to produce environmental services are more numerous near cities than in isolated rural areas. However, these results are to be put in perspective because regional daily press on represents actions of local actors to the detriment of other producers of environmental services. |
