description Abstract Introduction: Cardiovascular illness is the common disease in developed countries. Among of these illnesses the coronary artery failure significantly counted as a high rate of heart disease in the world. The main treatment for this condition is replacing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) heart pump under surgical crew including skilled nurses. Objective: This study aimed to determine prognostic factors during intubation of patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Methods: This study is cross–sectional descriptive-analytical survey. 136 patients with coronary artery disease, who referred to intensive care unit in Heshmat hospital for CABG, were selected using consecutive sampling method. The data collection method were consists of three-parts personal character, factors associated with disease and surgery. Statistical tests such as Spearman, Chi-square and Multiple Logistic Regressions were used to analyze the relationship between dependent and independent variables and determined predicting factors of intubation time after CABG. Results: results showed that the time of keeping endotracheal tube in most cases were more than 8 hours in patients with body mass index (p=0.023) and Arterial oxygen pressure (p=0.003) of postoperative intubation time after CABG. Conclusion: in spite of prognostic factors during intubation of patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery, it is obvious that for patients with low body mass index and arterial oxygen pressure, a team of healthcare professionals needed to systematize mechanical ventilation time. Coronary artery bypass graft surgery should be comprehensive and always needed high-quality of nursing management, reliable authoritative source of information and quickly plan changing depending to the patient s circumstances.
