Summary:The global financial crisis of 2007-2009 has not spared the Latin American continent. But the recession has been less severe, and especially shorter than in previous crises. However, in a context of high growth and resurgence of inflationary pressures, the return of capital inflows fueling an accelerated credit dynamics that cause new bubbles in asset markets (exchange rates, equity markets) and casts risk of another financial crisis. Latin American governments must face new monetary and financial challenges in the post-crisis period trying to master the financial stress without limiting growth.
