| Summary: | Situated in today's digital context, where the open science movement is a new paradigm for the production and circulation of knowledge, this paper analyzes the extent to which research data repositories meet the technical, legal, and ethical needs of researchers in the education and the social sciences domains. The methodological approach combines a literature review, an expert interview, and analysis of repository catalogs. From the fusion of the obtained results, it can be concluded that the characteristics of repositories that are most valued by researchers in these disciplines are reputation, ease of use, availability of contextual information, sustainability (long-term data preservation), technical support, and compliance with FAIR principles (which promote the production of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable data). In addition, this article delves into the role that repository catalogs play in facilitating the selection of appropriate repositories for depositing data, providing researchers with useful information for determining whether specific repositories meet their needs. This study provides valuable information for promoting the adoption of open data practices in the field of educational research. |
