| Summary: | A fundamental part of the discussion about the need to address reparations for the historical legacies of poverty and violence created by colonialism, both in European metropolises and their former colonies, is the position taken by white subjects asked to analyze their historical place as beneficiaries of racial exploitation. In this article, we seek to understand the different forms of positioning adopted by whites when invited to reflect on the meaning of the concept of racial justice. The analysis revealed the creation of discourses that are divided into three aspects: that of the complete denial of colonial crimes and, consequently, the need for reparations; that of transmuting racial justice into a notion of social justice; and, finally, the definition of racial justice as a synonym for historical reparation. |
