In the modern era - the age of digitalization - artificial intelligence (AI) has profoundly impacted all aspects of human society. Neural network-based systems can translate diverse texts in a short time and even compose poetry and prose in any language. Recently, linguists and literary scholars have actively explored the application of AI in the translation of literary works. The relevance and novelty of our research lie in the fact that, to this day, no scholarly works have conducted a comparative analysis of Vietnamese translations of A.S. Pushkin’s works produced by human translators and neural networks. The aim of our study is to assess the quality of Vietnamese translations of Pushkin’s poem “I Loved You”, comparing those by translator Thuy Toan with those generated by DeepSeek and ChatGPT. The focus of the study is the extent to which the translations preserve the semantic depth and the author’s style in the Vietnamese versions. The primary research method is a comparative-contrastive analysis. The findings demonstrate that professional translators comprehend the depth of the original text and possess the creative ability necessary for literary translation. The main limitation of neural networks lies in their inability to perceive the aesthetic elements embedded in the original text. The practical significance of this research lies in its potential application in teaching Russian literary translation with the support of AI. This study opens new perspectives for advancing the theory of literary translation in the digital age. |
