description The sociologist Bernard Friot, professor emeritus at the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, uses this interview to explain his analyses. Not only does he offer a reasoned critique of contemporary societies but even more poignantly a precise and sculpted alternative model based on an original reading of what he considers to be revolutionary social advances in wage-earners’ status. His thoughts raise a host of questions, sometimes going as far as to disturb and even irritate. The reactions they provoke range from scepticism to hostility. The Marxist categories and vocabulary in which he occasionally expresses himself might bother some readers – yet no one would say that they aren’t stimulated by Friot’s assertions in a political environment featuring so little prospect for change. We met Bernard Friot in March 2014 to ask questions abouty the societal project that he has defended in several books.
