| Summary: | The development of the digital ecosystem contributes to sustainable economic growth and integrated security, improves the quality of life and has a positive effect on the health of the population. The introduction of digitalization has a positive impact on the development of national economies, which is confirmed, in particular. As shown in the article, Italy shows significant growth in this area, outstripping the achievements of other EU member states in a number of indicators. Italian reforms in the field of digitalization of the economy are focused on priority investments in the development, first of all, of mobile communications. Also, important goals of modernization in the system of public administration and services have been identified, which should be achieved with the support of the national plan for the sustainable development of the country’s economy with the transition of public administrations to cloud technologies. Italy now has a strong industrial base and research communities in key areas such as artificial intelligence, high performance computing and quantum technologies.
