| Summary: | This study aimed to evaluate supplying strategies for byproducts, mycelium, raffinate, corn straw, and Goldenmill® in diets of lactating crossbred cows on intake and digestibility of nutrients, blood parameters, ingestive behaviour, milk production, and composition. Fifteen ¾ Holstein × ¼ Gyr cows were used with an average initial weight of 608 ± 145 kg and 80 ± 5 days of lactation. Three experimental diets were evaluated: a control diet without inclusion of corn and citric acid byproducts; a complete – Total Mixed Ration (TMR) diet in natura, containing corn and citric acid byproducts; and a complete ensiled TMR diet containing corn and citric acid byproducts. The forage: concentrate ratio in the three experimental diets was approximately 36:64 on a dry matter (DM) basis. Cows fed control diets and in natura TMR diets produced 23.20% more milk compared to animals that received TMR ensiled with corn and citric acid byproducts. The feed efficiency of cows that received the ensiled TMR was 22.83% higher than the other diets (average of 1.25 kg of milk kg−1 DM). Considering aspects related to management, dry matter intake and nutrients, blood parameters, milk production, and composition, the in natura TMR diet. |
