description This paper sketches a comparison between the concepts of the subjectivity in Chomsky’s and Saussure’s language theory. This is important for two principal reasons. First, the current debate in cognitive sciences requires a reflection to be made in the different sciences that are geared towards this paradigm; second, the subjectivity notion and its relative definition, as an object of study, represents the key of the stone arch in the theory of cognitive sciences. The inquiry on the role of the subject in the language studies can contribute to the debate of social and biological aspects in human. Furthermore, linguistic study have always had an important relationship with cognitive science, because both share a fundamental difficulty due to the complexity of their object of study and of the finding of appropriate research methods.
