Summary:Using the original convex-profile data measured by the three-coordinates measuring machine,the 3D modeling of cylindrical index cam is established.A CAD reversing method is presented to obtain parameters of the follower motion rule and cam lift-return angles of cam mechanism by using motion simulation,the processes of dynamically simulate and to obtain motion parameters of cam mechanism on Pro/Mechanism are introduced.And then a new cam profile can be designed analytically using both the motion parameters and the structure dimensions.The experiment show that the method can reverse design of cam follower motion rule rapidly and accurately,and it can be directly applied to practice.
