description Tragic textes and the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, as funerary, epitaphs, show how the marriage’s preparation is an important moment, even essential, in mother / daughters relationship. Drive their daughters until marriage is, for mothers, the culmination of their duty of transmission. Thereby they contribute to their integration in the city. By contrast, in the attics orators speeches, mother / daughter relationship is rarely mentioned, except in Andocides’ speech On the Mysteries, and in Apollodorus’ speech Against Neaera (cf. Demosthenes), because in these cases, what the mothers pass to their daughters threatens the unity of the city.
