| Summary: | This article aims to analyze the relations between state and traditional authorities, focusing the attention on the ongoing democratization process in Mozambique. It aims to go further the current discourses on administrative decentralization in order to understand the social-political dynamics inherent to the actual relation state/traditional authorities. The main argument of this article underlines that the dynamics of the institutionalization commonly known as communitarian authorities shows that inherent to the discourse about decentralization and local participation lies a different reality: the fight to conquer political spaces in rural areas. |
