Low thermal expansion in conjunction with improved mechanical properties achieved in Mg-Gd solid solutions
Addition of Gd with relatively large solubility is demonstrated to significantly reduce the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), while improving obviously the mechanical properties of Mg matrix.
