Description
Summary:Transient nutations in 1H{14N} nuclear magnetic double resonance are described. The high symmetry of the ammonium, tetramethylammonium and tetraethylammonium cations allowed the detection of two different types of transient nutations. One is produced by the INDOR technique with fast passage of the {14N} frequency, the other by a sudden increase of the decoupling field H2. The influence of the quadrupole relaxation prevents the observation of 1H{14N} transient nutations in larger and less symmetrical ammonium cations.
