Summary:One of the most common diseases of the organ of vision, characterized by a loss of homeostasis of the tear film, with a violation of the stability of the tear film and its hyperosmolarity, is the dry eye syndrome (DES). The article presents a review of modern scientific literature, reflecting the prevalence and main factors of the pathogenesis of DES, as well as evaluating the prospects for the use of proteomic mapping, which provides significant assistance in studying the patterns of development and progression of the disease. The methodological foundations of tear collection for research are considered in detail, and current data on changes in the biochemical composition of tear fluid in DES are analyzed.
