Description
Summary:During the 1990s, noir fiction changed in France: new collections, new authors, new readers followed the neopolar generation (1970s-1980s). At the same time, the genre acquired new legitimacy, so much so that noir fiction did not seem such a minor kind of fiction. Some writers gave up specialized collections to publish in more prestigious general collections. As a result, many authors hesitated between two positions, two “ethos”: one is the “ethos of the writer,” the other is the “ethos of the dropout” (cf. Meizoz 2004). This choice is reflected both in their statements and in their novels.
