Summary: | Experimental determination on solubility of deferiprone in propylene glycol + 1-propanol mixtures and their saturated solution's densities were reported at atmospheric pressure (101 kPa) from 293.2 to 313.2 K. In general, the solubility of deferiprone increases with the increase in temperature and concentration of propylene glycol in the mixtures. Dependence of solubility on composition and temperature were evaluated by fitting the experimental data to the double log-log, Jouyban-Acree-van't Hoff, modified Wilson and Jouyban-Acree equations, which showed that the latter equation represented the best mathematical description. Additionally, functions including the apparent standard dissolution Gibbs energy (ΔG°), standard dissolution enthalpy (ΔH°) and standard dissolution entropy change (ΔS°) were determined in order to provide basic knowledge on thermodynamics of deferiprone’ crystallization and industrial separation. |
