description Permanent magnet synchronous traction motors have experienced rapid development in urban rail transit due to their characteristics, such as energy saving, high efficiency, and lightweight design. However, some deficiencies have emerged in practical applications. Based on the permanent magnet traction system of Qingdao metro, this study analyzed issues encountered during actual operation, including abnormal demagnetization of permanent magnet motors, abnormal noise from gearboxes, and limited energy-saving effects, through investigating relevant standards, the theoretical analysis of problems, and on-board experimental demonstrations. Solutions and optimization suggestions were then proposed. Based on these results, a subsequent study focused on the design of permanent magnet motors in urban rail transit, emphasizing control strategies and failure mode analysis, with particular attention to key aspects such as demagnetization faults and short-circuit faults. Improvement suggestions were formulated for the design, manufacturing, and testing standards of permanent magnet motors, taking into account practical applications. The study outcomes offer references and insights for future upgrades in the application of permanent magnet traction technology in metro vehicles.
