Em abril de 2005 o professor Ubiratan D'Ambrósio foi agraciado com o Prêmio Felix Klein por sua importante contribuição ao desenvolvimento da Educação Matemática em todo o mundo. O Prêmio Hans Freudenthal foi atribuído ao Professor Paul Cobb, dos Estados Unidos. A entrega das medalhas será realizada durante o ICME-2008, a ser realizado em Monterrey, México, em julho de 2008. A Diretoria do Gepem parabeniza o professor D'Ambrósio pela brilhante atuação, exemplo de Educador que é e pelo merecido reconhecimento. A seguir vemos o professor Ubiratan (em 2006) e abaixo, no Seminário sobre Ensino de Matemática (1976, ano de fundação do Gepem) juntamente com a Profª Maura Laura L. Lopes, José Paulo Carneiro, Maurício Matos Peixoto eAirton Gonçalves.
